When to Prune:
Most standard pruning can be done any time of the year with little to no effects to the tree. Hedges and shrubs included. The best time to do some heavier pruning would be anytime between the late fall and early spring as this is when the trees growth can enter a dormant stage. This also helps increase the trees ability to close up new wounds by giving it the entirety of a full growing season throughout the spring.
You can do the following any time of year:
- Trim back the trees small branches.
- Lightly shape any conifers and hedges.
- Remove dead or diseased branches. If you live in an area prone to hurricanes or any inclement weather, it’s important to remove the weakened branches in the fall. Even though the fall isn’t the ideal time to trim, we highly recommend trimming anything that would be deemed potentially hazardous.
